10:30 AM - 11:30 AM STREAM A1: Efficient managment of disputes in APAC The How To Guide to Contractual Disputes - avoidance and management across APAC

When parties are in negotiations, they are often under pressure from the business to conclude them in the shortest possible time to get on with the project at hand. These time pressures can have an adverse impact on the quality of the agreement produced.  Also as with many relationships, at the start of things, optimism is high and no one wants to think about what could go wrong further down the line. Yet, if things do go wrong and the relationship between the parties breaks down and they are unable to resolve issues amicably, the absence of a clear, legally enforceable agreement can create problems for both sides.

In this discussion, our panel will consider the lessons they have learnt from resolving disputes within APAC across their professional careers and share the practical dos and don'ts of negotiations and entering into binding agreements.  The panel will also discuss the real traps to look out for when a dispute is imminent and when a dispute has been formally commenced.
