Overview (Program Summary)

This hour presentation will cover attorney-client privilege in the corporate setting, specifically from an in-house counsel perspective. The topics explored include examining the scope of attorney-client privilege in corporate settings, reviewing common mistakes that result in inadvertent waivers, and understanding the extent of subject-matter waivers. The session will also discuss best practices for in-house counsel to safeguard attorney-client privileges within their organizations. The presentation will focus on both the Rule of Professional Conduct 1.6, which emphasizes the importance of preserving client confidentiality and the Federal Rule of Evidence 502, which legalized certain guidelines on waivers in federal proceedings.
